Reiki Before, During, and After Pregnancy

Reiki is based on natural eastern medicine, which uses a person's energy to support the body's natural healing abilities. It is also one of the oldest healing systems and can be used in a variety of ways. This ancient technique originated in Japan and means universal life force energy. It uses the body's energy to balance the body and mind. During a session the benefits are felt both by the practitioner and their client.

Every area of your life can be impacted, from physical health to emotional wellbeing to stress reduction and mental clarity.

The practitioner can assist a person in a variety of ways. First, a person/family member can be taught level one Reiki and provide treatments themselves. Second, a person can participate in a 45-60-minute session. Third, a person can participate in a 30-45-minute distance session over the phone. All three methods can activate the natural healing process of the patient's body and help to restore physical and emotional wellbeing.

This practice is being used in more than 70 hospitals in the United States in our area, Johns Hopkins in Maryland and INOVA Fairfax in Virginia. How can this benefit your life? Are you pregnant or hope to be? Reiki can help. The practice is safe during pregnancy and safe for your baby.

Reiki is safe to use during all stages of pregnancy, from conception to childbirth. Some couples having difficulties becoming pregnant, sometimes seek treatments. Men as well as women have shown benefits from these sessions. During the first trimester it can assist the mother-to-be in coping with morning sickness, lack of energy and sleep as well as the anxiety that mat occur due to life and body changes. When a mother-to-be receives treatment, so does her fetus. During the second and third trimesters it continues to help support the mother-to be and the baby to maintain good health, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase a sense of inner peace. During these two trimesters the baby responds as well. It also has a positive impact during labor and delivery.

Kindled Spirits recommends Reiki for the mother-to-be, baby and dad. Parents can be trained to provide sessions to each other.

According to The International Center for Reiki Training, “thereisnocontrolledscientific study inthese cases, howeverthereiscertainly evidence that theuseofReiki before, during, andafter pregnancy has positive results bothfor themotherand baby.”

So if you are pregnant, or have fertility concerns, give Reiki a try.
