Promote Natural Healing
When people hear the term complementary healing, they tend to immediately think of massage or acupuncture, but there are many natural complementary modalities that encourage healing and support wellness, and the number of practitioners who offer these modalities is rapidly increasing.
Reflexology promotes balance and good functioning within the body and mind through the stimulation of specific reflex points on the hands or feet that correspond to organs and glands of the body. Reflexology is a quick and effective way to address any number of conditions such as stress, headaches, back pain, constipation and much more.
Aromatherapy is an ancient practice that is regaining popularity today. It is simply the use of natural aromatic plant substances to evoke physical, mental, emotional, energetic or spiritual change. Aromatherapy can work on the physical level such as eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) to clear sinus congestion and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) to promote relaxation and sleep. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinacles) promotes mental clarity and focus. On an emotional level, Ylang Ylang (Caranga odorata) quenches anger. Frankincense (Boswellia cateri) has been used for 1,000s of years to induce energetic or spiritual expansion.
Energy work modalities, and Reiki in particular, are becoming increasingly popular because they are easy to learn, subtle and very effective. Reiki gently moves and circulates a person's energy or Ki, which is much like the chi of Tai Chi or the prana of yoga. It restores balance and ease. It induces relaxation, releases stress and promotes clarity of mind and purpose. Reiki can also increase a person's energy and drive. Integrated Energy Therapy (IET) is energy work modality that is particularly good for getting unstuck, letting go of behaviors that no longer serve you or releasing emotions tied to past traumas without having to analyze or re-experience them.
The way to support good health and wellness is to maintain balance, or regain your equilibrium just as you start, shift out of balance. It's not wise to wait until you've developed some glaring condition or your body is letting out a loud cry for help. Energy work and other forms of complementary healing can help you regain and maintain that balance, be more resilient and have a stronger sense of well being.
Educate yourself on the different complementary healing modalities, and chose a modality that not only addresses your issues, but also resonates with you so that it can support you in your own unique healing process and maintenance of good health and well being.
