Hypnosis For Dentistry Freedom From Dental Fear

Many people have fears about going to the dentist, having their teeth cleaned, getting a shot, hearing, smelling, and feeling the drilling and filling of their teeth. Some of these fears may be well founded from painful past experiences, but sometimes the sources of these fears are unrelated to actual dental experiences or incidences. No matter what the cause, the feelings of panic and fear can be a visceral experience. For some people just reading this paragraph may have been difficult, bringing up stressful feelings and memories.

Hypnosis can help to refocus the mind and therefore refocus the experience to a positive result; meditating on a pleasant thought, sight, smell, or sound can completely change the anticipation of an activity from one of fear and stress to one of pleasure and relaxation. Your anticipation and expectation of that event colors your experience.

Have you ever had a huge fear of going to the dentist? Do you only make an appointment when you are in great pain? Patients try to avoid thinking about it and use whatever means necessary to keep their mind off of the pain they expect to experience. Patients sit in the dental chair and grip the arms with white knuckles before the dentist even enters the room. Then as soon as the drill turns on, the fear is even worse.

Have you ever just closed your eyes and gritted your teeth throughout the whole visit? Patients who have experienced these thoughts of pain and fear probably haven't been to the dentist in a while, and most likely need a lot of dental work. You don't want to put off needed dental work just because there are thoughts of pain and fear – there are ways to deal with and change those thoughts.

There are techniques to release the thoughts of past fear and pain. These techniques can help provide the assurance and confidence that the future doesn't need to be the painful experience you have anticipated in the past. Once you achieve this state of mind, your dental appointments can be more comfortable, and you can have the dental work you need.

Now, imagine sitting in the waiting room, breathing comfortably and taking yourself to a place of calm and relaxation. You can change your mindset so you no longer feel pain when they use a needle, or panic when they start to drill.

There is a lot of evidence and proof that peaceful dental experiences are possible through hypnosis.
