Venous reflux is one of those conditions that affects far more people than are aware they have it. The symptoms it produces are easy to attribute to other causes, the name itself is unfamiliar to most people outside a clinical setting, and because it develops gradually over time, many people adapt to its effects without recognizing them as signs of a treatable condition.

The veins in your legs are responsible for returning blood to the heart after it has been delivered by the arteries. Venous reflux, also called chronic venous insufficiency, occurs when those valves stop functioning correctly.
