Scott Hunter founded Your Health Magazine in 1990 with a mission that continues to guide the publication more than 35 years later: Helping People Find the Healthcare They Need.
ABOUT SCOTT HUNTER
Scott came to health publishing with a background that combines life science, healthcare administration, business and publishing. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, where his studies focused on the Life Sciences. His education also includes additional studies at The George Washington University.
Before founding Your Health Magazine, Scott worked in healthcare administration for a multispecialty medical group in Maryland. Working closely with healthcare practices gave him firsthand insight into both the healthcare profession and a persistent challenge facing patients: excellent doctors and healthcare services could be available in their communities, yet people did not always know how to find the care they needed.
Scott recognized an opportunity to connect healthcare professionals with the public through education. That idea became the foundation of Your Health Magazine.
A FAMILY CONNECTION TO PUBLISHING
Scott’s interest in publishing also has deep family roots. His father, Bill R. Hunter, was a newspaperman and the former owner of The Courier, a weekly newspaper distributed in Prince George’s and Southern Maryland. Growing up around his father’s work introduced Scott to publishing and the important role a local publication can play in informing and serving its community.
Scott ultimately brought that publishing influence together with his education in the life sciences and professional experience in healthcare to create a publication with a specific purpose: helping people better understand their health and connect with healthcare professionals in their communities.

Under Scott’s leadership, Your Health Magazine has spent more than 35 years publishing educational health information and introducing readers to doctors, dentists, specialists and other healthcare professionals throughout Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, DC.
The publication was built around the belief that healthcare professionals should have an opportunity to share their knowledge directly with the public, while readers should have access to practical information that helps them better understand their health and identify appropriate healthcare resources.
As Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Scott continues to guide the editorial direction of Your Health Magazine and its commitment to clear, useful health information, education and connecting patients with the healthcare they need.
EDITORIAL LEADERSHIP
Scott provides editorial oversight for Your Health Magazine, drawing on his education in the life sciences, his experience in healthcare administration and more than 35 years leading a health publication.
