Partnering For Fitness
It's great that so many of us recognize the importance of exercise and that we are taking measures to attain, or maintain our fitness, but sometimes developing a fitness routine can become a little onerous. Furthermore, finding the motivation to stick with the routine, once developed, can sometimes be a challenge.
I highly recommend joining a group. Not only does exercising with a group help keep you motivated, but it can also make your workouts more fun with the added benefit of a social component.
Exercising alone or with others is equally beneficial. However, you may gain some additional benefits when working out in a group environment or simply with a partner. Great exercise groups are so easy to find. They can be found in a local fitness center, of course. But did you know exercise groups can also be found in other venues in your community?
Health experts advocate finding a support group or exercise partner to help you stay on your exercise course. Intrinsic motivation is key to your determination to achieve or to maintain fitness.
However, a social network of some sort will help you stay the course when you need a little push during those moments when self-motivation begins to wane.
Benefits Of Partner or Group Exercise Include
Typically, group exercises are far less expensive than individual personal training. If you can join a group that is lead by a certified trainer, you can reap the benefits of having a personal trainer, at a fraction of the cost.
Joining a group exercise class can simply be more fun than merely exercising solo. The camaraderie and support system that is developed may help you feel less isolated in a typical week.
Intrinsic motivation is key to dedicated fitness for a lifetime, but a support system helps most people stay on track and look forward to their workouts. Developing a relationship with a group of similar-minded people provides the accountability and support needed to help you stay motivated.
The satisfaction of knowing that you are helping others stay committed to achieving and maintaining their fitness goals.
Whether or not you work out on your own or with a group, with a personal trainer or without, the most important thing is to just get moving.
