Could LASIK Improve My Appearance?

Well, the answer is maybe. Of course, the main reason to have LASIK eye surgery is for its vision correction benefits. But improving your appearance can be a by-product of the experience. In surveys, patients routinely report a variety of reasons why they elected to have LASIK surgery including convenience, safety, freedom, sports, hobby and job needs as well as improved appearance.

Some LASIK patients have worn glasses since they were very young children, and can't imagine themselves without them. They become like an old friend. And, of course, there are many attractive choices of fashion eyewear available today. These patients remain perfectly happy with their glasses.

For others, their entire lives have been accompanied by familiar playground sayings like “four eyes.” Many feel uncomfortable in their glasses. Choosing a surgeon who has years of experience and has performed tens of thousands of LASIK procedures can improve your chances of having the best outcome. Look for a surgeon who will meet with you personally before the procedure and discuss all your expectations. Ask questions. Read about the procedure. Talk to former patients.
