Massage A Green Gift

Whats a green gift one might ask, and how is massage considered green? Allow me to make a few points that may shed some insight on how a gift certificate of massage extends beyond an hour of enjoyment for the recipient and benefits the giver as well.
Other than the paper a gift certificate is printed on, massage produces no excessive packaging, or shipment of merchandise that comes from overseas. Massage uses natural oils for the treatment, and not petroleum by-products, synthetics and fragrances that can be harmful to both the recipient and the Earth.
A gift of massage benefits the local economy, keeping the surrounding community viable. Supporting local businesses not only strengthens the community, but saves gas and other resources. Thriving local businesses are often happy to “give back to the community” with donations of time, products, and other resources to schools and charitable organizations.
Ever suspect a gift youve received has been “recycled” to a hopefully more appreciative recipient? Most of these eventually get tucked away into a closet until the next yard sale, or given away with a tinge of guilt attached perhaps. A gift of massage is highly unlikely to be recycled, but if so, the second receiver is sure to fulfill it, ensuring someones happiness at least. Most people whom receive a massage gift certificate use it gladly, and thank the person who gave it to them again, even if its months down the road from receiving it.
There is no need to make room in the house for one more thing. Most of us have plenty of “stuff,” and even crave more simplicity in our lives.
Taking care of ones health and well being is green. The more vitality and energy one has ensures a more productive life, with the will to give back. The benefits of a good massage extend beyond the hour, helping ones productivity, clearing the mind, easing aches and pains, and improving the mood long after a client has left the table. Often it is a gift certificate that brings a first timer through the door, and a positive massage experience convinces them of the benefits of regular massage. A gift of massage sends a message to the recipient that their health and well-being is valued.
