Group Meditation Can Change the World
There has been measurable scientific research outlining the synergy we create when we meditate in groups. Studies have shown that the healing power that is created in a group meditation session is far more effective then meditating alone. These same studies have proven the existence of a ripple effect of peace, and calmness in the surrounding environment in group meditation. A meditation group could consist of individuals who have participated in meditation at different levels. This is a good thing.
New beginners to this evidence-based science can learn from those who are more experienced in meditation, who can clarify any difficulties with practice, and provide feedback regarding experience that arises during the meditation process. Meditation can help develop a real connection with the people while tapping into the same silence and source of peace at the same time. By doing so, the group creates an aura of energy by which we can literally meet people at the same wavelength.
Recorded EEG results show that brainwaves synchronize while meditating. EEG stands for electroencephalogram, which is a test used to evaluate the electrical activity in the brain.
Meditating in a group is a fun and healthy way to socialize and learn a new skill that is good for ones mind, body, emotion, spirit and focus. It can be a rewarding experience, which can provide the members with spiritual nourishment vital to their development and strengthening their meditative practice.
A remarkable study in 1993 in Washington, D.C., once considered the active murder capital in our nation, proved the energy of group meditation lowered violence and crime by 23% during an eight-week period. People who participated in the meditation were experiencing more peaceful energy in their lives.
The Dalai Lama tells us that if we take a global population of 10 year olds, and taught them how to meditate we would experience world peace within a decade. Let’s start with our beautiful community, teach everyone how to reduce stress, be calm, relaxed, feel good about yourself, be positive, focused and aware, and spread empathy, peace and most important – improve your health. Always remember that the groundwork toward happiness, peace and success starts with great health. Let’s focus on wellness.
