New Year's Skin Care Resolutions That You Can Stick To

When it comes to caring for your skin, you want to create a routine you can follow every day. There's no point in adopting an elaborate skin care regimen if you're not going to follow it. Resolve to create a simple daily routine so that you'll have no problem sticking to it.

Be Patient With Your Products

We're all in a hurry to see results, but putting on the brakes too soon won't give you a true sense of a products efficacy. Give any new treatment at least 12 weeks (and up to six months) to see if it's really improving your skin before calling it quits.

Clean and Replace Tools Regularly

Resolve to clean and replace tools on a regular basis. It's easy to forget or be too busy to wash or swap out makeup brushes, face cleaning brush or make-up tools on a regular basis. We can undo all of our hard work taking good care of our skin if we're using dirty or worn-out tools.

Keep Your Hands Away From Your Face

Picking, even lightly, can permanently damage skin. Some people's skin clears up simply by ceasing to touch it. If you are really in need of extractions, leave it to the pros and schedule regular monthly extractions with an aesthetician who knows how to do them safely and gently.

Drink That Extra Glass Of Water

Keeping hydrated and drinking plenty of water assists in transporting nutrients and oxygen to skin cells helping to prevent premature aging. It can even make skin appear fuller since the hyaluronic acid that naturally exists in skin will pull in and hold the water for a wrinkle-plumping effect.

Apply Your Products In Proper Order

Start with the most active ingredients as soon as you wash and pat skin dry, like serums and retinols. These are the most powerful, so you want them to come into direct contact with your skin. Finish with your favorite moisturizer, and of course SPF during the daytime.

Off With The OldExfoliate

Skin is constantly generating new skin cells and sending them to the surface. They then slough off to make way for younger cells. But as we age the process of cell turnover slows down. Cells start to pile up unevenly on the skin's surface, giving it a dry, rough, and dull appearance. Exfoliation is beneficial because it removes those cells, revealing the fresher, younger skin cells below. Gentle exfoliation also clears the way so that expensive facial products can penetrate better.

Get a Facial

Skin care resolutions don't have to be boring and tedious; they can be fun and relaxing. Resolve to schedule quality facials this year because there isn't a better way to get a deep cleaning, exfoliation and hydration without any effort on your part. Facials also help stimulate your skin and keep it in tip-top shape so that your skin care products can work better and more effectively.
