Happy With How You Look? You May Be a Perfect IPL Candidate
Being happy witht the way you look is great, however many people would like to have improvement in color spots, spider veins, rosacia and wrinkles.
Intense pulse light (IPL) therapy is non-ablative, meaning that it does not damage the surface of the skin. The intense light is delivered to the deeper parts of the skin (dermis) and leaves the superficial aspect of the skin (epidermis) untouched.
The IPL hand piece delivers high intensity pulses of broadband light that is different from the narrow band light of lasers.
How Often Can Treatments
Be Done?
For the best results, approximately three to five treatments, spaced four weeks apart are recommended for the most significant results.
How Much Improvement
Can I Expect?
Patients with minimal wrinkles, slightly loose skin, blotchy uneven texture, and facial blood vessels can expect great improvement. Your first change will be improvement in texture and tone. The skin will be smoother and softer.
This first phase occurs after the second treatment.
Improvement in color and wrinkles occurs after the fourth or fifth treatment.
Those patients with severe wrinkles and scars will require a more assertive program. Smoother, softer skin and improvement in uneven pigmentation can be expected within weeks.
What Are the Side Effects?
A small amount of flushing, or redness will follow the treatment and generally lasts from 30 minutes to several hours, but in some cases may last a few days.
The brown spots and uneven pigmentation will become slightly raised and darker over the next three to five days.
The pigment will “slough off” within seven to ten days post treatment. So, if you want to improve the way you look, then IPL may be the perfect choice for you.
