Common Symptoms of Sleep Apnea
Are you finding that you are tired, fatigued and sleepy during the day? These are indications of possible obstructive sleep apnea, and you may have a solution to their problem.
Frequently when your body pulls you out of an apneic event it is accomplished by a micro-arousal. A micro-arousal doesn't necessarily wake you up from sleep, but it pulls you out of whatever sleep stage you are in.
The result is a disrupted sleep pattern and insufficient amounts of sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea patients spend significant amounts of time at night in a “fight or flight” state with elevated blood pressure, heart rate and respiration. People do not feel rested in the morning because they spent the entire night fighting to breathe. This is the vicious cycle of untreated and undiagnosed sleep apnea.
So what's the big deal with being sleepy during the day? The impact of excessive sleepiness effects social situations, causes mood changes, raises irritability thresholds, creates a debilitating lack of energy and more importantly, causes long-term significant health problems.
