Stress and Immunity During the Holiday Season
'Tis the season for family get togethers, celebrations and festivities of this time of year. For some of us that may mean extra unnecessary stress, frustration, agitation and irritability.
Stress over a period of time becomes chronic and effects the immune system and not in a positive way. A lowered or less effective immune system means colds, flu, bronchitis and possibly pneumonia.
That is just the most common illnesses as we move into winter. Some people react to stress in other ways and their immune systems show in the way of migraines or stomach pains or digestive issues to name a few. This is not the way we want to celebrate the holidays.
Acupuncture is widely known to not only reduce stress, but to boost the immune system as well. So even if you are receiving treatment for something else, you are boosting your body's natural immune system each time you are treated.
If you are not being treated yet, this is a perfect time to start, before all the hustle and bustle of the season knocks you down. Why not go into this joyful yet sometimes hectic time of year in the best way possible?
