Peggy Yanger, RNC, CCBE

Degrees, Training & Credentials: I am a graduate of the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) School of Nursing and I’ve had continuous employment at the Reston Hospital Labor and Delivery Unit, in Northern Virginia, for the last 21 years. I’m certified by the Academy of Certified Birth Educators since 2004 (CCBE) and I’m also a Certified Registered Nurse generalist in Perinatal Nursing (RNC). I was twice nominated for the prestigious Thomas Frist Humanitarian Award and Named Nurse of the year while employed as a Department of the Army Civilian nurse, at the 130th US Army Station Hospital, while stationed in Heidelberg Germany in 1993. I’ve been teaching Childbirth Education classes, based at Reston Hospital, since 1994 – with over 5000 couples instructed. I have recently retired from 25 years of continuous employment as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Reston Hospital.

I have also maintained my certification as a Academy of Certificated Birth Educator. since 2004.

Practice Philosophy: Childbirth Education classes prepare and inform the mother and her labor support person about pregnancy and childbearing. My intention is to provide information and promote confidence needed for labor and delivery, encourage health and wellness in pregnancy, and serve as a bridge between the students and their obstetricians.
