Color Me Healthy
Despite what you might think, regular, everyday foods have all the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that you need. Supplements are nice, but not always absorbed well and not always what they seem to be. The more colorful your plate, the better off you'll be. Here are just a few of the great options you have on a daily basis.
- Brussels Sprouts Work to block tumor growth due to the sulfur compounds they contain. Also found to decrease the inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.
- Basil Contains the compound known as eugenol, which is known to block carcinogenic activity in cervical cancer.
- Kale the super food. It has tons of Vitamin K, which is good for preventing heart disease. Also contains a lot of fiber, which of course aids in preventing colon cancer.
- Eggplant Its beautiful purple skin is great for its anti-aging properties. Thanks to nasunin, it also fights cancer and slows the progression of Alzheimer's by blocking those nasty free radicals.
- Red Bell Pepper One of the best sources of Vitamin C, this is great for your immune system (especially if you don't like orange juice). It's also known to increase collagen production, which helps prevent wrinkles.
So, bring more color into your life, your body will thank you for it. Eat what you love, love what you eat.
