Varicose Vein Treatment For Mommy Makeover
The phrase “mommy makeover” summons images of tummy tucks, breast lifts and liposuction cosmetic procedures to get that pre-baby body back. Did you know that pregnancy aggravates existing varicosities, and can actually cause development of varicose veins? It is estimated that up to 30% of women with one pregnancy, and 55% of women with two or more pregnancies develop varicose veins.
Because varicose veins cause leg fatigue, swelling, pain and even leg ulcers, treatment is considered a medical necessity. In fact, most insurance policies cover the assessment, and treatment of varicose leg veins.
One excellent method for getting rid of leg veins is Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT). This treatment corrects dysfunctional vessels via a laser fiber inserted into the varicosevein. The surgeon delivers a series of laser pulses through the fiber, which causes the vessel to painlessly collapse. Then the body reabsorbs the vein over time. Nearly all people enjoy a speedy recovery with very few complications.
Treatment takes about one hour from set-up to recovery. Most people find EVLT to be easy and comfortable. They are able to get up and walk around shortly after treatment. You will wear a compression stocking on your leg for about a week to help resolve the treated area. The best reward is freedom from ropey and painful leg veins.
EVLT may be the answer for you if you find that your legs do not look or feel as young as they did pre-baby. Find out if this is right for you by having a painless ultrasound study to establish whether or not you have normal blood flow patterns in your legs. The assessment takes about 20 minutes when performed by a Registered Vascular Technician (RVT).
A good technician will explain to you that healthy blood vessels push the blood back towards the heart. An ineffective vessel moves blood towards the feet. This results in pooling blood, discoloration, discomfort, and bulging veins.
Endovenous Laser Treatment gives you one more option for taking back control of your body post pregnancy. You can look forward to cosmetic and therapeutic relief. This is a good time to get treated because most people have met their insurance deductibles.
