Take Control Of Your Holiday Habits
Most of us are challenged with little time to devote to our physical activity and extremely busy days from wake to sleep, which can leave us with short tempers. From November into January how do we deal with a busy schedule requiring energy, focus, and positivity?
Maybe it is as simple as making a pledge with yourself to at least try one suggestion from each of the following categories
Physical Activity
Each day post a note in the car, calendar or desk reminding yourself, “Some activity is better than no activity.”
Form a lunch time walking group.
After big holiday meals, take the family on a walk.
Energy and Time Management
Set boundaries. Sometimes you need to say “No” to take care of you.
Food prepping at the beginning of the week typically reduces the amount of times eating out for last minute meals that are usually full of calories, sugars, and salt. Think fresh and natural when picking and prepping your food.
If your organized workouts are just too long, split them up and make them shorter. No shame in that.
Food is fuel. Put great and healthy food in, and get great and healthy energy out.
Exercise is uplifting. Even a little walking can increase endorphins, metabolism, and energy.
Attitude
Meditation for 30 seconds to 10 minutes. Meditation is beneficial in improving attitude and stress management.
Take an active “I can” approach when thinking about what you need to accomplish. Positivity goes a long way.
Counting and breathing will also provide an opportunity to quiet your brain and bring you into a calm place when presented with difficult and stressful situations.
