Acupuncture For Sugar Addiction

Sugar addiction, a perceived difficulty with controlling intake ofsweetfoods or beverages, is an increasingly common problem for many people, regardless of their age, sex and nationality. In the U.S. there is a wide range of food supplies available and sugar products are imported from all over the world.

A wide variety of foods are needed for our body on a regular basis. However, sugar should be eaten in moderation, otherwise a sugar addiction may occur. Since eating is perfectly normal, acceptable and legal the situation is much different than smoking, alcohol or drug addiction.

The consequences of sugar addiction include high blood sugar level, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, pancreatic problems, digestion issues, obesity, and liver/kidney problems. Sugar addiction can be psychological if the body’s systems are used to having sugar the mind may become dependent on the instant pleasure experienced.

Sugar withdrawal symptoms include headaches, nausea, change in bowel movements, anxiety, tiredness, fatigue and weakness all over the body. Many of these symptoms are similar to any chemical withdrawal from the body.

Although many patients can cope with the symptoms from reducing sweets, it is difficult to maintain and control all side effects and discomforts. Addressing these challenges often requires a multifaceted approach that incorporates addiction treatments designed to stabilize both physical and mental health. The body’s supply and demand may be imbalanced, and they may experience lower than normal blood sugar. Physical and mental frustration may occur.

Acupuncture can be used for sugar addiction for two different types of patients 1. Preventive group These patients are concerned about their health, but not addicted to sugar. 2. Addiction group These patients must make a serious commitment and follow the practitioner’s plan to complete the treatment plan, and combine with conventional care in order to achieve their goal.
