Parents: Summer Is the Best Time For Invisalign

Teens love the summer. No school, fun vacations, sleeping in, more time to hang out with friends – it’s easy to understand why summer is their favorite time of year.

It’s also a great time for orthodontic care. Sure, getting braces isn’t going to be at the top of your teen’s summer to-do list.

Invisalign® provides a nearly invisible way of straightening teeth using clear, removable aligners. The aligners are worn for 20-22 hours per day, which means your teen can take them off while eating. It’s also a lot easier for them to brush and floss.

It’s very appealing to teens, as most teens tend to be very concerned with their image. The idea of showing up to school with a “mouthful of metal” can cause anxiety in any teen – even if they do want a perfect smile. In fact, a survey by Invisalign found that teens using Invisalign are 70% less likely to be teased than those wearing traditional metal braces. The same survey also found that teens using Invisalign were more likely to experience a boost in self-confidence and esteem.

Here are several reasons why the summer is the best time to get started:

Appointment flexibility: No school. Need we say more?

More time to adjust: While Invisalign is a lot more convenient and comfortable than traditional braces, it’s still helpful to have some time to get used to putting in (or removing) the aligners, and learning how to speak with the aligners.

More time for hygiene: Brushing and flossing is a lot easier with Invisalign. But having that extra time to adjust goes a long way.

A healthier mouth: This isn’t relevant to summer, but it’s still true – straighter teeth means a healthier mouth.

Enjoy your favorite summer foods: Corn-on-the-cob, candied apples, popcorn – whatever your teen’s favorite summer treat is, Invisalign won’t stop them from enjoying it.

No one will know: Your teen may not want to be wearing braces for that beach vacation – but with Invisalign, no one ever needs to know.

“Wow” classmates in September: No orthodontic treatment can be completed in a few months, but you’ll notice a difference by the time schools rolls around. And by December, your teen will enjoy the confidence of having a perfect smile.

To find out if Invisalign is a good fit for your teen, schedule a consultation with a certified Invisalign provider in your area.
