Reflexology Whole Body Restoration
Reflexology is a science and a healing art that involves manually stimulating areas or reflex points on the feet, hands or ears (that correspond to each organ, part and system of the body) to open energy channels, and help restore balance and vitality to the body. With the opening and unimpeded flow of the body's energy channels, the body can recuperate from any challenges and restore itself. Reflexology goes to the root cause of a problem by treating the person as a whole rather than focusing on a symptom.
History
Reflexology has ancient historic origins that link to healing techniques known as pressure therapies found in a variety of cultures globally (Egyptian, Babylonian, Chinese, Incan and some North American Indian tribes) as well as grounding in more modern Zone Theory. It is a completely safe and non-invasive form of therapy that is very relaxing and can be used in conjunction with both modern and alternative healing modalities.
How It Works
As a holistic therapy, a reflexology session reflects an equal partnership between the practitioner and client, where the practitioner acts as a mediator to activate the client's own healing potential. By stimulating reflex points on the feet, hands or ears with specific thumb and finger techniques certain physiological changes occur as the body is signaled to heal, restore, and revitalize itself. The benefits of reflexology therapy include pain relief, relief of stress and tension, increased energy and stamina, boosts in immune system functioning, improved circulation, improved sleep, and improved digestion and elimination.
Pain Relief
Pain is a call for help. It indicates a problem, an imbalance or some form of congestion within the body. Inge Dougans notes in The Art of Reflexology, “A number of chemical changes take place in the body during reflexology treatment. One such change deals with the sedation of pain. The body produces its own pain-killers, known as endorphins, which are five to ten times more powerful than morphine….”
Benefits Everyone
Reflexology sessions are beneficial for men, women, children, babies, and the elderly. People in excellent health, those who have minor health challenges or those who are challenged with a terminal illness can all benefit from this relaxing, balancing and harmonizing modality.
