Acupuncture Helps You See More Clearly

Vision has more than a physical aspect when viewed through the lens of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. On one level, the physical phenomena of mechanics of the eye and sight are treated with both acupuncture and herbal preparations. On another level, in Oriental medicine, vision has the quality of being able to see forward in life.

Spring is a time when there is a lot of movement and growth in the northern hemisphere. In Oriental medicine, Spring is also associated with planning and a vision for both the present and the future. Acupuncture assists a person with his or her ability to plan effectively and see possibilities for the future. The element of Wood, which is associated with Spring, has to do with the energetics of the functioning of the eye and with forward movement in life. It involves the ability to be flexible when life throws changes into the path of our lives by seeing other options and possibilities.

Acupuncture points have names that reflect the character of the energy of that particular point. One point on the Wood pathway is called “Gate of Hope”. This point is often used when a person is having difficulty in seeing positive movement in his or her life. Each point has specific functions and this point not only assists the person to see possibilities on a mental/emotional level, it also benefits the physical eyes and can assist with visual dizziness such as seeing the room spinning.

Since Oriental medicine works on the physical, mental and emotional levels, these modalities can enhance a person’s willingness to navigate around obstacles that occur in life. Whether it’s a question of family concerns, career decisions, educational choices or other social endeavors, having an ability to see clearly helps us to successfully move through difficulties, which in turn enhances quality of life. Where do you need to see more clearly?
