Cancer Prevention Trumps Treatment

Would you rather detect and treat cancer early, or prevent it in the first place? Of course you would rather prevent it altogether, but how do you do that? Your body was designed with a built-in immune system to identify and automatically either fix or eliminate problems, including tumors. Not only does it fight off the common cold virus, it nips tumors in the bud, before they turn into out-of-control cancer tumors.

The key to staying healthy is to keep your immune system strong. Getting seven to eight hours of sleep on average, engaging in moderate exercise and eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables every day are a few ways to help your immune system.

In 2002, the American Medical Association recognized that most people do not eat well enough to obtain all of the nutrients they need from their diet, so they recommended that people also take nutritional supplements. There are many nutritional supplements on the market, and it is easy to become overwhelmed by the array of options.

The best supplements go beyond the FDA's minimal food standards and adhere to the pharmaceutical level of “good manufacturing practice” (GMP). If you have trouble finding a nutritional supplement that adheres to GMP standards, contact a wellness coach who can point you in the right direction.

While we are on the subject of nutrition, it is important to understand that what you don't eat is just as important as what you do eat, particularly when it comes to tumors. Did you know that tumors thrive on sugar? If you want to maximize your wellness, and minimize your susceptibility to tumors, learn to appreciate the natural sweetness in fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoid sweeteners, including artificial sweeteners. They add no nutritional value, and once you stop eating them, you realize just how sweet real food is already.

Cancer tumors are not external invaders like viruses or bacteria. They are your own cells that have been damaged and are no longer functioning properly. Getting adequate sleep every night is critical to staying healthy because your immune system does most of its work while our body is sleeping.

With respect to cancer, one of the most important tasks it undertakes is to repair broken DNA so that your cells replicate properly. If you have difficulty sleeping, talk to your doctor, or your wellness coach to learn good sleep hygiene. As Virgil so aptly declared, “The greatest wealth is health.” So live well.
