Cancer Living In Balance
This is the infinite and enduring wisdom of the life process it gives and it takes. In between the giving and the taking that space is created where balance happens. In that space of balance are processes for positive growth, creativity and renewal. I call that super process of giving and taking life dialectic. Life dialectic is cosmic, engaging all in its interconnected web of creative animus; from what we think of as the universe beyond to the minutest cell of our own physical construction. We each create and maintain balance within and among the fundamental dimensions of our being physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
What, if anything, does the foregoing have to do with cancer, this month's theme for Your Health Magazine? Cancer is one of the most dreaded representations of imbalance in the physical aspects of our life process. Something triggers. Normative procedurals of physical functions for renewal and growth go “off track” and abnormalities replace normal replications. We now know that what was once regarded as an unfortunate random occurrence of non-specific origin has antecedents in the physical make up of some persons genetic markers; in our lifestyles examples would be smoking and excessive drinking; and in the conditions of our environments exposure to toxic substances, etc.
As a behavioral health professional, I want to draw attention to the fact that accumulations resulting from imbalance between the generation and expression of strong negative emotion, especially anger, can, in time, be expressed physically as cancer.
Living in balance that takes account of our life process in all its aspects physical, emotional, mental, spiritual is important to prevention, not only of cancer, but of all forms of malaise and ill health. Life and health balance is key to our realization of optimal health.
