Losing That Stubborn Fat

Are you close to achieving your weight loss goals, but can't seem to eliminate stubborn love handles or pockets of fat on your abdomen, thighs, butt, etc.? If you've answered “yes” to this question, rest assured that you're not alone.

This is especially true for women, as women typically have 611 percent more body fat than their male counterparts. Studies have also shown that post-menopausal women will store fat in the belly area, rather than the buttocks and thighs as can be seen in younger women. As we age, it will become increasingly more difficult to get rid of this excess fat.

Whether you're a man or woman, this problem can cause a lot of anxiety especially if you're sticking to a low-calorie diet, putting in the hours at the gym, and seeing very little results.

So what are your options then? Well, diet and exercise should never be overlooked. You can (and should) go to the gym and target your workouts on those problem areas. However, “spot reducing” can be a real challenge. In most cases, when fat is broken down during exercise this happens throughout the body not just in your targeted area. If you're having trouble reducing fat in a stubborn area through exercise and diet alone, it may be a good idea to consider alternative solutions.

Many patients are now opting for nonsurgical fat reduction as an alternative to liposuction or weight loss surgery. There are many different nonsurgical fat reduction procedures, and one that has had notable success is SculpSure.

How Does It Work?

SculpSure uses a unique 1060nm laser to effectively remove unwanted fat from problem areas including the waistline and abdomen. The machine's four applicators can be placed anywhere on the stomach and flanks to precisely target your problem areas.

Laser fat reduction treatments deliver heat below the surface of the skin to destroy fat cells.Over time, excess fat is naturally eliminated from the body without painful side effects or downtime.SculpSure treatments work best on patients with a layer of pinch-able fat. The doctor can also elect to use the paddles off-label and place them on thighs, knees, bra fat, and arms.

What To Expect

This procedure can help you achieve a slimmer appearance in just 25 minutes. Unlike suction-based methods, there is no bruising or damage to the skin. SculpSure treatments are relatively comfortable many patients are able to read, check emails, or watch TV during the procedure.

Results are typically seen in six to 12 weeks, according to clinical testing, with an average 24 percent reduction in stubborn fat. There is no recovery time following treatment, so you can resume your daily activities immediately. All patients should plan on two treatments with the 2nd treatment 4-6 weeks later.

If you think SculpSure would be a good solution for your aesthetic/weight loss goals, speak to your cosmetic surgeon to learn more about what it can do for you.
