Is Laser Hair Removal For You?

The LightSheer DUET system generates concentrated laser energy through a cooled hand piece, which is placed on your skin. As the laser energy penetrates the skin, the pigment found in hair absorbs it. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment. In this way, LightSheer selectively disables many follicles at a time, destroying unwanted hair or significantly hindering its regrowth. LightSheer DUET treatments typically provide 50-90 percent permanent reduction.

LightSheer DUET Versus Electrolysis

There are many advantages to using the LightSheer DUET system. While electrolysis is a popular form of long-term hair removal, it can be painful and slow. An electric current passes through a needle to destroy follicles, hair by hair. Electrolysis can take months or even years of regular treatments to remove hair on even a small area such as the upper lip.

With LightSheer DUET, we can disable hundreds of hair follicles in less than one second; with electrolysis, this might take hours. The LightSheer DUET system is highly effective and relatively comfortable.

What Do the Treatments Involve?

Hair removal with LightSheer DUET is an in-office procedure. It may take a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area we're treating. LightSheer has two handpiece choices, the small cool tip for smaller areas and the larger vacuum tip (which doesn't have a cool tip) for faster treatment on larger areas. LightSheer uses innovative vacuum-assist technology combined with the largest spot size on any diode laser available; to allow comfortable and rapid treatment of large areas (backs and legs) can now be treated in only 15-20 minutes. There is zero numbing before the cooled hand piece is place on the skin, because the suction confuses the nerves in the treated area.

After treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away. We also advise using sunscreen on treated areas that may be exposed to the sun.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

The number of treatments you need depends on your hair's growth. Because the laser tends to target hair follicles that are in an active growth phase, you will need at least five treatments to disable follicles that later enter this phase. The location, density and resilience of the hair being treated are other determining factors.
