Lasers are it use is many med spas and cosmetic centers to do wonderful treatments that weren't available just a short time ago. The technology has advanced rapidly and now there are treatments that easily and comfortably give you the results you want with little discomfort and don't really cost that much. You have so many places where you can receive excellent treatments and great results, how do you know which one to choose, for you?

First of all, med spas and cosmetic offices have trained professionals using the latest technology and will ask you many questions to determine exactly what you want to achieve. They will also educate you about the procedures and treatments available so you are an informed patient.

When you choose a cosmetic office or med spa, they will provide a lot of information. If you need more, then just ask.

Most states require a laser technician to be at least an esthetician, if not a master esthetician or physician. Depending on type of practice, a physician may allow experienced medical staff to perform procedures. Again its depends on state and practice.

You may want to know where they got their training, and the experience level they have with the procedures they offer. These are good questions to ask.

They will go over the procedures in detail, and let you know of any potential side effects.

Skin type, especially in the case of lasers, is very important. They will discuss how your individual skin type will be treated, and what you can expect. Darker skin represents greater challenges when using lasers or UV light. However, new technology does allow procedures to be performed on darker skin types. Ethnicity also is something the laser tech has to consider.

They will also discuss any medication you should avoid pre and post treatment. Some procedures may require you to discontinue any medication that makes you photo sensitive. Ask your technician and review your medications with them.

These are just some of the basics you will want to know. Depending on the treatment being performed, there are other questions you may want to ask.

There are many factors to consider in the treatment of your skin and so many potential treatments available, it has become possible to treat almost any skin type with great results.
