Dr. Desman earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University in 1986. He then attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1990. In 1995, he completed his general surgery residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 1997, Dr. Desman finished his plastic surgery training at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He then moved to Roanoke, VA and joined the largest multi-specialty physician group in Virginia. In order to be closer to his family, he then began practicing plastic surgery in the Northern Virginia area. In 1999, he opened the Virginia Center for Plastic Surgery with the goal of providing outstanding medical care and unparalleled levels of personalized service to all of his patients.
Dr. Desman is a board certified plastic surgeon. He received his certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1999 and was recertified in 2009 and 2019. In order to achieve board certification, Dr. Desman was required to undergo extensive training in the field of plastic surgery and take rigorous examinations evaluating his mastery of the specialty.
