Aging Gracefully: Four Powerful Tips

Aging Gracefully: Four Powerful Tips

Although the body is a very sophisticated wonderful machine there is a point where it will need fixing to continue to run well. No matter how sophisticated the body is, there is still work to do to keep it functioning well preserving its systems as it wears down from use and time. To reach an advanced age whatever that looks like for each individual person is still a blessing. However, aging gracefully takes planning and some work, especially if exposed to major stressors. Here are some tips to consider and incorporate to help you age gracefully:

  1. Create Time For Rest and Peace. A quiet heart and gentle spirit go a long way to preserve the heart and mind from stress as much as possible. It is all in how things are mentally and emotionally processed. Try not to let people and things ruffle your feathers or get on your nerves. Top it off with a good restful night sleep to recharge and recreate your mind.
  2. Eat Moderately. Overeating does more than add extra weight to the body. Overeating causes one to age faster due to giving the body more work to do. Research shows that caloric requirements drop approximately 20% from 30-65 years of age. Thus, eat nutrient-dense food (no need to sacrifice taste and enjoyment), just focus on food of good quality that is simple and hearty that satisfies as well.
  3. Move the Body Regularly. Inactivity is as bad as smoking. Dance, garden, vacuum, climb the stairs, park a distance from the store and walk, exercise in a stable chair, or exercise on the bed. Start where you are and do what you can until you can do more. Exercise and movement are beneficial for your heart, lungs, muscles, joints, skin, lymph system, and mind. It helps move your wastes and fluids through your body.
  4. Take Time For Fun and Enjoyment. Socializing is necessary to help life be enjoyable. If dealing with people is not your thing, especially during these times, find a hobby that feeds your soul.

Take time to consider how each area stated above looks in your life. Whatever your situation, take stock and plan now to age gracefully.
