Healthy Changes For The New Year

The New Year is a time to reflect on the changes we want or need to make and many Americans make health-related resolutions. We would like to encourage those who are interested in making changes to consider an organic lifestyle for 2013.

Our bodies are so precious as we only receive one in a lifetime. It is then our responsibility to care for, protect and nourish one of the most vital and largest organs our skin. However, to many, the skin is just an afterthought and a burden involving a mundane daily regimen of carelessness and neglect. Let's look deeper into the importance of caring for our skin using only quality healthy skincare and why using non-toxic health and beauty products made with organically grown ingredients is the most rewarding and pleasant way to care about the environment and prevent many health risks.

Up to 80% of what is applied on the skin absorbs directly into your blood stream. Can you imagine eating lotion for breakfast? It may sound extreme but that's what we do when we put chemicals on our skin. The majority of U.S. commercial skin care products contain chemicals, artificial dyes and fragrances, and other harmful ingredients. These unnecessary ingredients are often banned for use in skincare by many foreign countries.

Education is important for the health and wellness of yourself and your family. Many are unaware of what they are actually applying to their bodies on a daily basis. From the moment you awake until bedtime on average females apply, 10-15 products on their body, males 3-7 and babies/children 4-8. Each product accumulates and weighs down the body with unhealthy toxins which the skin and other organs are forced to process. Key ingredients to avoid are petroleum, carcinogenic (cancer causing) chemical fillers, emulsifiers, fragrances, colorings, paraffin, synthetic sources, parabens (propyl, methyl and ethyl) and other synthetic preservatives. Even if a product claims to be naturally based, research the additional ingredients. Many companies market products with a few natural “active” ingredients however after deeper research the additional “inactive” ingredients are very harmful and not disclosed on the label.
