Mommy Makeovers

Having a baby is a joyful and life changing, all-inclusive adventure – the preparation, anticipation, the birth and, eventually, returning to everyday life. During pregnancy, women notice significant changes to their body – something many women fear even before getting pregnant. They watch as their shapes completely change after only a few months of pregnancy and once the baby is born, this becomes a major focus.

Many new mothers attempt to attain their pre-pregnancy figures with diet and exercise programs. Unfortunately, after carrying a child for nine months, one can be left with extra pounds in places that are very resistant to diet and exercise and loose or sagging skin in the stomach area that won’t tighten with even the most vigorous cardio routine.

The good news is a top-notch plastic surgeon can assist you in getting back the figure you had or would like to have. This is commonly referred to as a Mommy Makeover.

Mommy Makeover is a general term used to describe an operation that addresses any area that needs to be restored following pregnancy. The most common areas of concern for new mothers are the breasts, stomach and legs.

Many women complain of issues related to sagging or deflated breasts from nursing. Other women are concerned with the hanging skin and stretch marks brought on by a growing belly. It is also common for women to have some difficulty losing the additional weight gained during pregnancy.

A Mommy Makeover combines some or all of these procedures to address your concerns and restore your body to pre-baby form.

After carrying a baby, the skin of the stomach area can stretch and sag, leaving it virtually impossible to restore in any other way except a tummy tuck. Excess fat pockets and hanging skin can be removed and the skin and muscles can be tightened to their pre-pregnancy form, or even better. This flattening may even be something you were considering before pregnancy.

Additionally, a woman’s breasts can hang, flatten or become pendulous after pregnancy and breastfeeding. A breast lift or breast augmentation – or a combination of both – can restore, and even improve their pre-pregnancy shape and volume. Other mothers may notice that their breasts became too large during pregnancy and opt for a reduction to restore the shape and perkiness of their post-baby breasts. A Mommy Makeover completed by an experienced and skilled plastic surgeon can take around 2-5 hours depending on the procedures you choose.

It is important to ask any questions you may have about the surgery, recovery and intended results.

During your recovery, you will want to make sure you have someone to help you with any small children and housework during your initial healing and recovery time. Most women will go back to being Super Mom in about 2-3 weeks.
