Home Care
Did you know that home care is covered by both Medicare part A and B as well as Medicaid? Most eligible patients think that home care is only covered if they have Medicare part B; when in fact, it is covered by both A and B.
Home care services include; skilled nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies, home health aides and other services. These services are provided at little to no cost to the recipient and require a doctor's order to initiate home care.
In addition to the skilled services listed above, Medicaid can also lower long-term, non-skilled care. Non-skilled care is often referred to as custodial care and is provided by CNA's and HHA's for a set number of hours per day, up to seven days a week.
The aides are supervised by a registered nurse and follow a care plan that is developed by the RN and the patient or family members upon admission to a licensed home health agency.
It Is Nice To Recover At Home.
When it comes to needing care, regardless of age or situation, people are discovering that there is no place like recovering at home. Home healthcare gives the alternative to recover from surgery or illness in the comfort of your own home. At home, one recovers in a familiar environment, enjoys the closeness of friends and family with added support and coordination of care.
What Is Quality Home Care?
There are four essential components of quality home care
The Right Mix Of Personnel and Service
The clinicians who provide care are essential for the task at hand. Provisions are made so that patients receive all beneficial services.
The Precise Level Of Care
Proper balance of care that adjusts with the patient's changing needs.
Coordination Of Care
Successful home care occurs when the various clinicians and primary care providers communicate and are on one accord with the after care plan.
Continuity Of Care
Uninterrupted flow of care provided by primary care seamlessly to after care and as the health care needs change.
