Level Up In Your Relationships This Holiday Season
Being mindful is about being able to center and focus on the present. In a time when uncertainty rules the day, the best approach is to step away from the anxiety-based thoughts of what we cannot control, and focus on what is in our grasp to change. You can make a call, send a text, or send a card in the mail. Now would be an optimal time to take this opportunity to put some much needed maintenance into your relationships.
India Arie’s new song, Steady Love, comes to mind when I think about strong relationships. Small, incremental, and consistent acts of thoughtfulness, kindness , generosity and grace is how you maintain relationships in a positive way.
If you find it challenging to get into a mindset of kindness, remember the universal law of relativity which states that no matter how bad we perceive our situation to be, there is always someone who is experiencing something relatively worse. In other words, attempt to find gratitude in your situation. If you look really hard, it’s there. For the relationships you are working on, challenge yourself to 4-6 minute phone calls to those you usually text and text those you usually go for some time with no contact. You will notice the tone and quality of your relationships improve.
