How To Find the Right Lawyer For Your Case Every Time

The internet is the new yellow pages. There are lawyer ads everywhere and they all say the same thing. “We care for you.” “Free consultation.” “Cash for your pain.” Their websites usually have a picture of a judge's gavel or the scales of justice, next to an image of the brilliant lawyers who will handle your case.

When everything looks the same, how can you tell who's actually the best lawyer for your case? Searching for a lawyer can be a frustrating process. You don't want a lawyer who sees you as a quick paycheck. You want a lawyer who has a track record in your specific type of case, and who makes decisions based on your needs.

Now, with high speed internet everywhere, there is no longer any excuse for anyone to not get a basic understanding about their legal problem. So here's what you do

Search the internet for FAQs (frequently asked questions) about your legal problem.

Visit lawyer websites that offer free information through videos and articles.

BEWARE Stay away from any lawyer who phones you first or has someone else directly solicit you in person after getting injured.

Call and ask for an information package (and run the other way if they don't have one!)

Ask them to mail you books, free reports, CD's or DVD's that they have produced for your type of case. It's much easier to do your initial research from the comfort of your own home rather than in a high pressure sales situation in front of the lawyers themselves. You'll be able to meet them in person once you narrow down your list of candidates.

Many lawyers offer free consultations, but that's not always the most efficient way to get information. Ask them to send you anything they'd like you to read.

Ask questions such as

What is your Avvo rating? (Avvo.com)

Are you a specialist in the type of case that I have?

Do you have a track record of success in cases like mine?

Will you give me the names of three other attorneys who you would trust with my case?

If you ask the right questions, you'll find the right lawyer.
