A Healthier Life Treating Type 2 Diabetes and Hypothyroidism
At its worst, diabetes can take decades off a person's life, but almost always reduces the quality of life for diabetic patients and their loved ones. The potentially deadly disease in some cases may be reversed, allowing patients to reduce or eliminate their drugs and insulin injections, lose weight, and reclaim their health.
Hypothyroidism, or low thyroid, is just as bad if not worse. A lot of these patients are told their lab values are good, but they still have their symptoms weight gain, constipation, anxiety, sleeplessness, just to name a few. It is known that a high percentage of these patients actually have an immune system issue versus a thyroid problem.
Because diabetes, despite drug therapy, can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, blindness and many other disastrous health consequences, proper and comprehensive treatment of the disease is vital.
Diabetes typically worsens over the summer, as food choices and vacation stress can fuel the underlying causes of the disease. Comprehensive and cutting-edge diagnostic testing is available that gets to the root cause of why diabetics can no longer regulate their blood sugar.
The testing allows doctors to customize eating programs that make it easy for diabetics to navigate their nutrition during winter season and for the rest of their lives.
Most diabetic patients who come to our office already understand that the current model of treatment is one drug after another in an attempt to reduce their blood sugar. They are tired, and often frustrated of going to the doctor and adding one medication after another.
Many diabetics don't know that diabetes may be able to be reversed, so they often suffer and get worse as they go through life. The term “reversal” is used when people can go off medication but still need to engage in a lifestyle program in order to stay off of those medications.
Fortunately, solutions are available that allow diabetics to reverse their disease rather than use drugs to just treat the symptoms. Our clinic encourages patients to take control and reverse their diabetes before it causes problems that cannot be reversed.
Your diabetes and hypothyroidism doesn't break for the winter and holiday season. At some point a decision needs to take place and action needs to be put into motion to reverse the disease.
