Reiki Healing
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is the laying on hands healing touch system. What does this mean? Traditional reiki was said to have begun around the year 1800 and was introduced by a man name Mikao Usui, who was a Japanese Christian minister. It all started, so they say, when Mikao Usui wanted to know the method of Jesus healing. It is said that he went on a quest to learn this method of healing. Mikao Usui sought this information through Buddhism in India. Mikao Usui, learned that this method of healing was lost, and he sought to bring it back into existence.
In his quest, he realized that in healing, it was more than the body that needed healing. The mind and emotions had to be healed also, and that healing must first of all be spiritual. Mikao Usui, while living in a Zen Buddhist monastery, found texts describing the method of healing Jesus used.
Mikao learned that the information he was seeking had happened about 2,500 years before. Mikao Usui, through deep meditation from the learned knowledge, discovered the method in which Jesus and the Buddha healed. It is at that time Mikeo Usui, named the healing technique Reiki, which means universal life force energy.
Reiki has gone through many changes in the West. Teaching techniques and methods have changed. Reiki is reaching more people. Reiki is now available to anyone who needs it. Reiki is love, and we need all the love we can get.
Reiki is the act of laying hands on the human or animal body to bring comfort and relieve pain. When a child falls down and hurts him/herself the first thing they want is for mommy or someone to touch it, kiss it, to make it feel better. When an animal is in pain, they lick the wounds. This is a simple act of a healing touch. This is the healing touch technique, a universal life force energy that heals through touch.
A person, who has had her body attuned as a Reiki healer, has had her bodys energy channels open and cleared of obstructions by Reiki attunements. The Reiki healer receives an increas in this healing energy, this life force energy or Ki (prana) for his/her own healing, and is connected to the source of all universal Chi, KI, or Prana. The source of healing comes from the Divine source. The Reiki healer is the method in which this source is transmitted to the person being healed. The Divine source does the healing, through the Reiki healer who has been attuned to the healing energy.
Once the healer has been attuned, the healer places her two hands down to heal, either on a pain area, or a full body hands on healing (you keep your clothes on). The healer may not know what needs healing, but the energy goes where it is needed. Reiki energy heals the whole person. Medicines treat only the physical body; reiki treats the whole body and the cause of the pain.
