Promote Self-Healing With Reiki

You've heard of Tai Chi, and maybe you've also heard of Qui Gong. But have you ever heard of Reiki?

Lucy (name has been changed) had never heard of Reiki either and was extremely skeptical that it could help in her recovery from a rare form of cancer that was overtaking her body.

She was receiving chemotherapy, radiation and surgery at the hands of talented DC Metro area doctors and nurses but, at times, she could barely speak, eat or even stand up due to the intensity of these treatments. Her husband and son had heard of Reiki though, and believed that it could help Lucy in her fight against cancer.

The first time Lucy received Reiki, she was confused and the Reiki Master had to explain exactly what would happen. The Reiki Master described how her hands would hover an inch or so over Lucy's body as she was directing the Reiki energy towards Lucy. She described the sensation that Lucy would experience as a warmth, or a pulsing, or a vibration.

As Lucy lay down on the massage table, in the serene, dimly lit room, she noticed unusual warmth and a series of ridges across the top of the table. When she asked what that was, the Reiki Master explained this was an Amethyst BioMat used during Reiki sessions to increase the benefit to the client. Lucy noted that the warmth was different from that of a heating pad; it was more relaxing, like it was seeping into her core.

Music, by the artist Liquid Mind, played in the background and Lucy's whole body began to relax on the table as the Reiki Master placed her hands in several pre-set positions around Lucy's head, neck, torso and knees, generally following the path of the chakra system of the body.

She also addressed Lucy's arms, legs, hands and knees, as well as directed extra Reiki to areas of Lucy's body that “called to her” for more

attention.

After the session, Lucy reported that she thought she might have fallen asleep but wasn't sure because she remembered being aware the whole time of what was going on, of the hand positions, of the music, etc.

Lucy said she couldn't explain exactly what she experienced, but felt that “something was going on there” and walked away feeling remarkably better than when she walked in.

The next day, Lucy called the office, eager to schedule her next appointment and reported that she had an abundance of energy after her Reiki session; in fact, she stayed up later and was more active than she had been in weeks. In the weeks following this discovery experience, Lucy returned for more Reiki and found her post-surgery pain levels lower than anticipated by her doctors.

Skeptics like Lucy everywhere are discovering how Reiki facilitates the body's self-healing mechanisms and promotes well-being on every level physical, mental and emotional.

Used in many hospitals and studied at the National Institutes for Health (NIH), Reiki cannot harm, it can only help.

Although it is not fully understood, and your results may vary, many researchers believe it positively affects the polarity of the cells, allowing the cells to function more optimally and to respond to disease more quickly.
