Acupuncture Can Help Your Migraines

Migraines affect approximately one out of six people in the United States. Migraines can put your entire day on hold. If you are a migraine sufferer, chances are you are missing work, losing sleep, or losing focus.

My own personal experience with migraine headaches as a young adult drew me to my current career as an acupuncturist. Severe, debilitating headaches would land me in the emergency room at least once a month. After waiting for hours in a loud, brightly lit hospital for pain medicine, I would cry to my mother that there had to be something that could make my migraines stop. For me, acupuncture was that thing. After a series of acupuncture treatments many years ago, I can now happily say that I am migraine free.

The migraine medications currently available don't always offer complete relief. These medications often leave you groggy, and not able to function for work, your hobbies and your family. While Western medicine can sometimes ease the symptoms of migraines, it's often not enough. Luckily, where Western medicine might fall short, Eastern medicine, like acupuncture, can help. For those of you out there with migraines, there is hope.

Acupuncture and key nutritional supplements can help lessen, or even get rid of your migraines altogether. You can take a whole-body approach in dealing with your migraines. An acupuncturist can help you discover what root causes are contributing to the overall problem, as well as provide treatments to correct any underlying cause(s), not just cover the symptoms.

Seek out alternative solutions for your migraines. You do not have to spend another afternoon stuck in bed with the curtains closed.
