The Characteristics Of Beautiful Skin
Most of us desire beautiful and healthy skin, but to achieve it we must know what to look for. But exactly what qualities make skin beautiful? As you may know, skin is your body's largest and fastest-growing organ. Skin is your body's coat. It protects you. It helps you stay warm when it's cold, and cool when it's hot. And unless it's cut or damaged, it keeps stuff out, including germs. So with all those jobs, it's no wonder we sometimes struggle to keep our skin glowing. Understanding which attributes go into creating beautiful skin helps us to identify our own problem areas so that we can work to resolve them.
Texture
Beautiful skin has an even smooth texture, free of bumps, and flakiness. Texture can become uneven with time. As we age our skin cell turnover slows and dead cells start to build up on the surface, leading to irregularities and dullness. Many textural problems can be solved (or slowed) by staying hydrated, exfoliation, and use of enzymes and AHAs.
Tone
One of the most noticeable features of beautiful skin is an even skin tone. Uneven skin tone is often the result of sun damage or cells that are producing irregular amounts of pigment. At a younger age, it's easier for our skin to recover, resulting in a uniform tone. But as we get older, it definitely becomes harder for our skin to revert back to its original condition. Age spots and blotching can occur as the result of excessive sun exposure, inflammation, or environmental damage (from smoking, pollution, toxins, excess sugar, etc.). Eating healthy and avoiding sun exposure is a must.
Moisture
Moisture is one of the key foundations of beautiful skin. It plumps and nourishes and gives skin a dewy glow. Without enough of it, dryness can lead to wrinkles, rough texture and fine lines. Be sure to stay well hydrated, and find a moisturizer that you love.
Firmness
Firmness is related to the components of fat, collagen, and elastin tissue in the deeper dermis of the skin. In other words, skin firmness requires that we have a good foundation. Unfortunately, our skin naturally loses its firmness over time, but this process can also be accelerated by damage from UV rays and dehydration. Firmness can be maintained by protecting your skin from the sun, using retinols, and replacing lost volume with dermal fillers.
Clarity
Achieving superior skin clarity means that your skin is clean, has minimized pores, and is free of acne. Dirt and secretions can clog pores and is a common cause of skin trouble. Cleanliness is the basis of clear skin. Problems like redness, broken capillaries, and rashes usually have in inflammatory component, and need proper diagnosis before treatment.
Everyone's skin is different and each person has different skin characteristics. Your esthetican can help you find a maintenance program to help you achieve radiant and beautiful skin.
