Latest Body Contouring Technology
So many people are interested in reducing fat and slimming their bodies they are actively looking for the best option the safest, and fastest. There are so many choices available today it is sometimes hard to decipher which treatments are going to be effective, in both the short and long term. Each method has pluses and minuses. Liposuction is the only treatment that permanently removes the fat, and now there is a new addition to liposuction procedures.
Liposuction, as its name implies, removes the fat using a small tube and suction. The addition of the power assisted liposuction (PAL) handset allows for the removal of fat cells with vibration. This method causes less trauma to the underlying tissue, increasing the patients comfort during recovery. The newest advance in liposuction is “laser assisted liposuction.” As more people learn about this new technique it is becoming a very popular treatment option. Because it has only recently become available, patients have been calling and asking, “Is this method better then liposuction alone?”
After months of hands-on trials, I can answer the question this way, “Laser assisted liposuction is better for some patients in certain treatment areas.” To explain further, areas where there is a large number of fat cells that need to be removed and areas where skin quality is good, traditional liposuction, or power assisted liposuction, may be the best option. These techniques remove a larger amount of fat cells and allow for skin contraction.
Laser assisted liposuction is appropriate for areas that require more skin contraction and less fat cell removal. Areas that respond well using laser assisted liposuction are the neck, arms, inner thighs, and lower stomach. In addition to traditional liposuction, or PAL, these areas would typically require the removal of excess skin. Heat from laser assisted liposuction stimulates collagen to be produced, thus causing a dramatic skin tightening not achieved with other liposuction methods.
Facts About
Laser Assisted Liposuction
Treatments can typically be done under local anesthesia and sedation.
It melts the fat to make the removal by liposuction easier.
The laser heats up the underlying tissue to stimulate collagen production and skin tightening.
In the hands of an experienced board certified plastic surgeon, laser assisted liposuction has a place in the field of body contouring. The overall satisfaction of many patients has been improved with this latest technology.
