5 Cosmetic Surgery Procedures For Women
Cosmetic surgical procedures enhance and reshape structures of the body to improve appearance and confidence. Any healthy individual with a positive outlook and realistic expectations is an appropriate candidate for cosmetic surgery.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), 18.1 million people underwent surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in the United States in 2019. Cosmetic surgical procedures have been on the rise in the U.S. over the past 5 years, and it’s easy to see why – new technology and medical capabilities improve by the day, offering patients better, faster, and safer options.
With this month’s focus being women’s health, this article will discuss a few procedures that are popular among the female population:
Browlift/Forehead Lift: As a person ages, facial skin loosens and wrinkles, causing drooping eyebrows and also creases and lines that make a person appear tired and old. A browlift can address these problems; it is done by surgically altering the muscles that cause wrinkling or drooping in the area above the eyes. This procedure is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of aging in people 40-60 years old. Like many of the procedures listed here, browlifts are usually done in combination with other procedures such as Botox and Microdermabrasion to effect a more complete facial rejuvenation.
Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty): A prominent nose may be a cause for self-consciousness to some people. Rhinoplasty can correct an undesirable shape of the nose, it may also be used to correct breathing problems caused by narrow or partially obstructed nostrils. Nose surgery can open up new possibilities for changing your appearance and self-image.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty): This is a surgical procedure done on the eyelid to remove fat deposits, loose skin and drooping that has occurred with age. Eyelid surgery can make a big difference in your personal appearance, taking away your tired and old look turning your face into a more youthful relaxed state.
Facelift (Rhytidectomy): As a person ages, the skin loosens and the supporting muscles weaken causing sagging of the skin and jowling. A facelift is a procedure in which suspension of the weakened underlying muscles results in a natural re-draping of the skin of the face and neck. The suspension of the muscle and skin over the underlying facial skeleton produces a youthful appearance lasting many years.
Facial & Neck Liposuction: Despite diet and exercise, nothing seems to affect the fatty deposits in your cheeks, chin, jawline, or neck as these areas do not usually respond to diet and exercise. Localized deposits of fat cells from the body can only be removed through facial liposuction surgery. The result is reshaping these bulging areas into more attractive and youthful facial contours.
Keep in mind that cosmetic surgery is a personal choice and should be done for yourself, not to meet someone else’s expectations or to try to fit into an ideal image.
