2011 Cosmetic Surgery Trends Revisited

In the beginning of the year, the two leading organizations of board certified plastic surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the ASPS – offered their list of predictions for cosmetic surgery trends for the year 2011. I also offered some predictions to our readers in previous issues of Your Health. While the ASAPS and the ASPS predictions are based on interviews with leading plastic surgeons around the country, my predictions are based on the relevant plastic surgery trends at Dr. Hakki's practice. As a leading board certified plastic surgeon actively involved in cutting-edge surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic surgery, I expect to see similar trends here at Luxxery Plastic Surgery. You will find most predictions are especially relevant to this practice. I hope you enjoy reading this revisited and revised list.

Face Lift & Fat Injections

As the economy rebounds, so does the plastic surgery industry and with it the demand for the gold standard in facial rejuvenation the Face Lift. With the improved economic times, older patients who have been putting off surgery or opting for fillers and nonsurgical rejuvenation procedures were ready for their face lifts. Alone or combined with a surgical face lift, using a patient's own-fat as a filler has also increased in popularity. Dr. Hakki integrated the technique of fat grafting into the protocol of his face lift for its volumizing effect, as well as its rejuvenating effect on the skin.

Breast Augmentation & Lift

With thirty years in practice and over 3000 breast augmentations under his “scalpel,” breast augmentation is still a top trend in Dr. Hakki's practice. The doctor has patients who have been using his services for thirty years. As they continue to age, so do their breast implants. An increase in replacement of aging baby boomer implants and an increase in breast lifts as the baby boomer generation continues to age has also been noted.

Liposuction

The gold standard in fat reduction at Luxxery and on national level, liposuction continued to be on the rise in spite of the continued interest in noninvasive fat removal alternatives such as laser procedures.

Tummy Tuck

The increase in awareness of the dangers of obesity resulted in an increase in patients experiencing dramatic weight loss. In turn, this created an increased demand in tummy tuck, body lift and arm lift surgery in 2011.

Buttock Augmentation

An unprecedented rise in the demand for this particular procedure was seen in Dr. Hakki's practice. Shaping and augmenting the buttocks was the most prevalent procedure seen this year. As the popularity of the buxom rear ends of Beyonce, Kardashian and JLO mounted, voluptuous buttocks became a must-have accessory. The Brazilian butt lift also became popular. When a patient's own fat is injected into the buttocks it goes beyond filling. The procedure is prized for its long lasting results and facilitates filling large areas.

Cosmetic Injectables

BOTOX injections and dermal fillers such as Radiesseand Juvederm continue to grow in popularity as an alternative approach to facial rejuvenation. Cosmetic injectables offer instant results to Dr. Hakki's patients on the go. Injectible fillers require no downtime and quickly diminish lines and restore lost volume in the face. They will continue to be hot and promising trends as new players in the injectables industry continuously enter the market.

Plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments involve ever-changing technologies and demands, but your plastic surgeon is the wizard of beauty. The plastic surgeon is constantly working his or her magic, whipping up longer-lasting wrinkle fillers, fine tuning BOTOX and perfecting butt augmentation treatments. Call your plastic surgeon and get your beauty strategies and goals underway.
