Getting Enough Plant-Based Protein, and Creating it the Way a Chef Would

When looking at the body of work of celebrity trainer Jason Walsh, it is clear that he stands uniquely at the intersection of science, physical performance, and the artistry of high-end cuisine. Why this may seem like an odd combination in the health and wellness space, it is what sets Walsh and RISE311, the protein supplement he co-created, apart from the competition.

Through research and years of experience, Walsh has crafted a protein that is quickly becoming the new gold standard. Going beyond building muscle, RISE311 helps people achieve peak performance by providing the right balance of amino acids and the amount of protein needed to support their health goals.

Not only is RISE311 a better protein formulation, but it also tastes good. Walsh and his team took 311 tries to perfect the taste of this craft protein — hence the name.

A protein quality mission that goes beyond Hollywood

Walsh has had an exciting career in the health and fitness space, becoming one of the most sought-after trainers in Hollywood. He has worked with celebrities such as Pedro Pascal, Bradley Cooper, Brie Larson, and Jennifer Aniston, among others.

Most trainers would be fine having a roster of Hollywood royalty be the pinnacle of their careers, but Walsh knew he had a mission that stretched beyond the red carpet. Over the years, he had become familiar with various animal-based proteins and plant-based protein sources, only to find them lacking in one way or another. Either the formulation lacked the building blocks necessary for building and preserving muscle, was too difficult to digest, or the taste left something to be desired. He knew there had to be a better way.

Plant-based protein with essential amino acids that’s easy to digest

Walsh knew that both animal-based proteins (like whey and casein) and plant-based proteins (like legumes, nuts, seeds, or brown rice) may cause bloating and gas that can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. RISE311 has been developed to be gentle on the gut microbiome by utilizing a process that alleviates the stress of digestion often associated with protein consumption, including sprouting and patent-pending processes to remove anti-nutrients that block proper digestion. The powerful enzyme blend ensures that muscles are supplied with the amino acids they need, precisely when they need them.

Each amino acid within RISE311 serves a significant purpose. Though Walsh and his team wanted to keep their new formulation plant-based, they didn’t want to sacrifice performance, so they didn’t stop tweaking the formulation until they landed on a perfect 1.0 score on the PDCAAS (Protein Digestibility-Corrected Amino Acid Score) scale. While most plant proteins typically score lower than 1.0 on the chart, Walsh has found the right combination of plant proteins — including the dietitian-recommended leucine — to boost the PDCAAS rating to one comparable to whey.

“It’s the anabolic pathway at work,” explains Walsh. “We got that dialed in, ensuring that fitness efforts are never wasted.”

Plant-based protein, like a chef would make

Walsh knew the work on RISE311 wasn’t complete, even though the formulation for performance was well in hand. Having tried a bevy of proteins in the past, Walsh knew that the taste had to be addressed. Most protein powders can be chalky, tasteless, or worse — have an awful taste. Walsh knew he didn’t want customers to feel as if they had to choke down the protein just for their own good; he wanted them to look at RISE311 as a craft protein, made in small batches, and one that had a flavor that felt luxurious.

Along with delivering 30g of complete protein and 3g of leucine per serving, RISE311 is actually delicious. Taking a cue from high-end cuisine, Walsh and his team paid attention to details that others overlooked, such as tasting notes, smoothness, and how the proteins also hit the palate. What has resulted is a protein that feels as if it could be served in the nicest restaurants.

Instead of using artificial sweeteners or flavors, RISE311 utilizes authentic red bourbon Madagascar vanilla beans and non-alkalized, small-farm grown organic cocoa. The sophisticated and decadent flavors you get from real ingredients make all the difference.

Walsh and his team are so confident that they have created a protein just like a chef would make that they offer recipes to newsletter subscribers. With these, RISE311’s protein formulation can be used to create a variety of culinary delights.

“These options just go to show how awesome protein can be,” says Walsh. “The recipes are fun and delicious, and you’re still getting enough protein with best-in-class ingredients.”

RISE311 is formulated in small batches, and the team has taken care not to cut any corners. What has hit the market is the best of the best, featuring flavors such as dark chocolate and Madagascar vanilla to satisfy even the pickiest palates.

A commitment to integrity and a new source of protein

Jason Walsh knew he could improve on protein, and has done so in spades with RISE311. Driven by the frustration that came from protein powders that underperformed or tasted terrible, Walsh has co-created an artisan protein formulation that is meticulous in its design, gentle on the stomach, and tastes incredible.

From Hollywood to the health-conscious everyday customer, Walsh is creating a movement with RISE311, rooted in science, integrity, and a touch of culinary luxury. With RISE311, Walsh and his team are setting a new standard for what a plant-based protein should be.
