Mairi Rothman is a certified nurse-midwife and one of the first Doctors of Midwifery in the United States. Her path to midwifery began after the birth of her first child and a career as a professional dancer and choreographer. Inspired by the power and beauty of childbirth, she became a Bradley childbirth educator and ultimately completed her midwifery training at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in 1996. Mairi has personally experienced birth in a range of settings—from hospitals to home births—which deeply informs her philosophy of care.

In 2007, she co-founded M.A.M.A.S. (Metro Area Midwives & Allied Services) in Takoma Park, Maryland, to provide personalized, evidence-based home birth services rooted in autonomy, cultural sensitivity, and respect. Alongside her midwife colleagues, she offers holistic healthcare throughout the lifespan for women and people assigned female at birth. Services include:

• Comprehensive prenatal, labor, and postpartum care
• Home birth support with continuous, individualized attention
• Lactation consultations and breastfeeding support
• Newborn care during the first six weeks of life
• Well-body gyn care and family planning
• Fertility counseling and at-home IUI services
• Perimenopause and menopause support, including group circles
