Spring Is Coming

Spring will be here soon thank God! Spring brings about the beginning of warm weather, flowers blooming, birds singing, green grass, longer days, and more. Spring inspires us to get outside, to breathe in the fresh air. Spring reminds us to drink fresh spring water and to eat fresh natural fruits and vegetables. The fresh air of spring and the fresh fruits and vegetables are healing to the body and mind.

Spring enables us to get outside to walk, run, jog, do yoga, or just sit with the intentions of relaxing. Breathing as a meditation simply is a way of healing. Meditation brings about awareness of the breath and thoughts. Your breathing has a pattern, whether it is short and choppy breathing possibly due to sinusitis, or long deep breathing, it has a rhythm.

Breathing with awareness can be healing to the mind and body. Being unaware of your breath, thoughts and actions can bring about an imbalance in the breath.

Mindfulness is awareness awareness of the food we ingest into our body and the drugs we take, whether prescription or over-the-counter. When we are unaware of our natural rhythm, our bodies and our mind are affected by it. We must consider the reactions from our actions.

When we over eat, over work, sleep too much or too little, or over do anything, we are doing a dis-service to our mind and body. When we ingest the wrong foods it can cause our bodies to react poor diets along with other risk factors can potentially lead to diabetes, hypertension, IBS or other disorders. Moderation in anything is what is required to keep the body and mind healthy.

When we do not get proper rest, it can cause physical and mental problems. Rest is essential to healing.

Sat Nam/Namaste.
