How to Keep Weight Off When Your GLP-1 Plan is Over

Many clients have benefited both physically and emotionally from going on a course of GLP-1 Treatments. It gives them a headstart and the motivation to keep losing weight.
Not only that, GLP-1 medications have had some very positive side effects, like improved digestion and sleep.
So many fear gaining weight after the recommended course of treatment is over. And it has been reported that patients have gained weight slowly after the treatment is over.
My mission is “how to prevent this from happening.”
As soon as you go on the drug, start a healthy program for yourself.
One client noticed she lost her sweet tooth the same night she started the shots. The next day as she had been phasing in, she began walking three miles in the morning at a cardio pace. She calls it “closing the green ring” on the Apple App. At first the watch had set goals for her of 40 mins cardio, then it kept asking her if she wanted to change her goals. Soon after she did 50 minutes of cardio.
She has completed this walk almost every morning for three months, despite having to get up much earlier for her wake up.
Over the three months she had lost 20 lbs, a stubborn weight that due to schedules and changing routines, would not go off, no matter what she did.
While GLP-1 is the kickstart, lifestyle changes are key to keeping the weight off.
She also changed her diet on day one of administering the drug. Even in social gatherings, she kept to the low carb diet she wanted, even at an Italian restaurant. Yes, you can do it!
Now, there was another step she had to add. This was a much harder step because it required (for the most part) her leaving the house or her neighborhood. She had to start lifting weights. This is an important step when losing any weight but particularly with GLP-1 treatments.
Lifting weights will make the scale go up which is scary for most people. You can decide when you want to integrate this. And what will happen is your body will look better and your strength will increase. So there is a real positive trade off to this.
I’ve been working with weight loss clients for years. I too have lost a lot of weight particularly after a long stretch in school, tied to a computer.
What is key here is having control of your own body and not some outside force, like food or sedentary temptations having control.
I have a weight loss program designed to look at the inner work behind this, and to implement small lifestyle changes as you go.
Coaching is available also for this program or individual sessions as you map out your own plan.
For those of you considering this, I acknowledge your courage and push for a long, healthy, happy life.
