The ReStor IOL An Opportunity For Visual Freedom

For most adults, life without reading glasses or bifocals is something either experienced at an early age or just dreamed about for most of their lives. Today, the ACRYSOF RESTOR IOL (intraocular lens) is turning those dreams into reality with its revolutionary lens technology, designed to allow those over forty years of age to see clearly at all distances without bifocals or reading glasses. The ACRYSOF RESTOR IOL delivers a high level of glasses-free vision.

In FDA clinical trials, 80% of those who received the ACRYSOF RESTOR IOL reported never wearing glasses for any activities. With this lens, recipients could read a book, work on the computer, and drive a car day or night and play golf or tennis mostly free from glasses. In fact, recipients were so pleased with their vision nearly 96% said they would have the ACRYSOF RESTOR IOL implanted again if given the choice.

Most of the time, cataract surgery is performed on individuals with visual impairment; however, the ACRYSOF RESTOR lens can also be used after a clear lens extraction, performed as a refractive surgical procedure to relieve large amounts of farsightedness. Both of these outpatient procedures usually require just a few hours of your time from start to finish. When you arrive for surgery, you are given numbing eyes drops and an IV drip with local anesthesia. During surgery, a micro incision the size of a pen tip is made in the eye. Ultrasound is used to break the cataract into tiny pieces, which are then removed. Once the cataract/lens is removed, the ACRYSOF RESTOR IOL will be inserted through the same tiny incision and set into its permanent position.

After the procedure, you'll relax at home for the rest of the day. You will be examined the day after the procedure. You'll need to use prescription eye drops to guard against infection and to help your eye heal. For a few days, you may need to wear a protective shield at night to prevent you from rubbing your eye. Most patients see well enough to return to their routine activities the day after surgery. Once both eyes have been treated, you will fully appreciate the ACRYSOF RESTOR IOL and realize that your glasses are a thing of the past. When you are selecting your cataract surgeon, be sure to find out if the surgeon offers the latest advancements in technology and lens options available.
