Raindrops To Replace Reading Glasses

As anyone who has struggled with the on and off hassle of readers knows, having the ability to focus on the details of life is priceless. There are many options for addressing your near vision problems and now there is a new solution called Raindrop near vision inlay.

Doctors have struggled to help patients who could see well at distance but couldn't read without glasses or contacts. This near vision fix has eluded our entire profession for decades. If your vision was good at the distance but poor at the near, then your options are LASIK, contact lenses or readers.

Raindrop is a different solution, which is a simple procedure that can help millions of people who do not need glasses for the distance but are dependent on reading glasses. You must be evaluated to see if this procedure can benefit you.

Raindrop is a soft hydrogel corneal inlay that is only 2mm in diameter and wafer thin at 30 microns thick. A femtosecond laser is used to make a small flap in the cornea and the inlay is placed underneath the flap which heals on its own. The procedure is done in the office, takes about 10 minutes to perform with minimal discomfort and you may return to work the next day. Your reading begins to improve a week after the procedure and can continue to improve for up to six months afterwards. The implant does not need any maintenance and does not need to be replaced. If there are any problems with the inlay, it can be removed easily. Raindrop is only placed in one eye the non-dominant eye.

You must be 41-65 years old, have had no previous cataract surgeries, no personal history of glaucoma and no previous LASIK/PRK. You should also need reading glasses for near work to benefit from Raindrop. There are other measurements and scans that will need to be done to determine if you are a good candidate.

The results to date have been encouraging. After one year, 93% of patients achieved 20/25 in near vision and 97% were around 20/30 in near vision, with no significant loss of binocular distance vision.

After two years, the mean gain in near vision was five lines of improvement in near vision (books) and 2.5 lines of improvement at the intermediate distance (computer screen/dashboard).

So, if you have been struggling with near vision and reading, or are beginning to notice your near vision is not as good as it once was, it's time for you to look into Raindrop. What wait?
