Nutrition Care For Healthy Skin

Proper hydration and adequate intake of vitamin C may help prevent premature aging and promote more healthy and youthful looking skin. In recent years, the benefits of using vitamin C and its derivatives in skin care products were investigated, and the majority of results indicate that vitamin C may enhance the look of your skin in several different ways.
Foremost, vitamin C is an antioxidant, which means that it can combat the effects of free radicals in your body and on your skin. Free radicals are the unstable molecules in the environment that can cause premature aging of the skin. Free radicals can be found in excessive sun exposure, cigarette smoke and environmental pollutants.
Apart from its ability to combat the effects of free radicals, vitamin C can also boost the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is an essential protein that keeps your skin firm and toned. When collagen is not produced properly, your skin can begin to sag and will lose its vitality. Because vitamin C can enhance the production of collagen, bringing this nutrient into your diet and skin care can help you look and feel better, reduce the look of wrinkles and improve your skins quality.
Combining the benefits of vitamin C with proper hydration will prevent your skin from premature aging. Additionally, drinking an adequate amount of water daily helps to flush out toxins in the body, eliminate pollutants that are present in the bloodstream, and make up for dehydration suffered by the body due to perspiration, harsh winds, and excess exposure to sunlight.
To be sure that you are maintaining adequate hydration, it is recommended that you drink anywhere from 2.5 to 3 liters of water daily. In addition, to get an appropriate amount of vitamin C in our diet, it is recommended that we consume five fruits and vegetables each day. Fruits and vegetables such as cantaloupe, oranges, strawberries, kiwi, bok choy, spinach, green peppers and asparagus are great sources of vitamin C. It is also important to eat plenty of these types of food or take a supplement, since our body cannot produce vitamin C on its own.
Following these tips may help keep our skin from the chapping, cracking, and irritation that can be caused by harsh weather, dry air and wind. Enjoy seasonal food sources of vitamin C and drink plenty of water.
