Chakras and Yoga
Part 2
The 5h Chaha (Visuddha) Throat
The throat is located at the base of the throat and is associated with communication and expression. The visuddha chakra relates to the neck and organs of the neck to include the voice box and airways in the throat.
The glands associated with the visuddha chakra are the thyroid and parathyroid glands, which regulate the bodys metabolism. The fifth chakra is involved in verbal expression of all thoughts and feelings associated from the lower three chakras. It affects our speech and how we express ourselves. It is linked with truth and honesty. Problems with the fifth chakra can show up as a sore throat, loss of voice or neck and throat conditions, which cause difficulties expressing yourself.
The 6th Chakra (Ajna) Third Eye
Everyone has heard of the third eye. The ajna chakra is located between and just above the eyebrow. The 3rd chakra is like another eye, it is said to be the seat of wisdom. The sixth chakra is linked to the brain and nervous system. The ear, nose, eyes and sinuses arc related to the sixth chakra. The hormonal system is affected by the sixth chakra through the effects of the pituitary gland in the brain.
The sixth chakra represents our ability to see and to assess situations. It is associated with our capacity for intuition, imagination, visualization and clairvoyance. The sixth chakra is our link to our intellect and physic abilities. An out of balance sixth chakra (third eye), can result in headaches, eye, ear, nose and sinus problems. It affects our hormonal balance causing insomnia, nervous disorders and depression. The third eye is connected to the hormonal glands of the brain and to the neurotransmitter serotonin, depletion of which has been linked to depression. Out of balance sixth charka can result in problems focusing and concentrating.
The 7th Chakra (Crown).
The Seventh Chakra is located at the top of the head at the soft spot on the anterior fontanel. The brain, the nervous system and the pineal gland are in the realm of the crown chakra. This chakra concerns itself with transcending materialism and letting go of physical attachments. An out of balance seventh chakra can show up as cerebral tumors and increased pressure in the skull. Psychoses, neuroses, depression and insomnia can occur due to the crown chakra linked with the pineal gland, which produces melatonin that is needed for a healthy sleep. S.A.D., seasonal affective disorder, is linked to the 7th chakra.
The 8th Chakra (Radiance/Aura)
The Eighth Chakra is your radiance, your aura in totality and the total of all the chakras.
The Eight Chakra is located in your electromagnetic field. The aura combines the effects of all the chakras and constitutes their total projection. The aura projects and protects. When all of your chakras are balanced your radiance is like the sun that shines all over the place, including dark places and it brings light no matter how high or low a person may be. Your radiance will shine through it all. All of your chakras can be balanced through meditation and yoga.
Namaste.
