Your Rhythm
Rhythm is the pattern of regular or irregular pulses caused in music by the occurrence of strong and weak melodic and harmonic beats. The physical body has a regular harmonic beat that indicates the health of the body. The rhythm of the body should have movement or procedure with a uniform pattern that has regular recurrences of elements in a system of motion, such as your digestion system.
The changes in the seasons can have a profound effect on the well being of our physical body. Spring and summer are excellent times to bring the body back into a regular pattern of elimination, relaxation and rejuvenation.
When we eat the fruits and vegetables of our environment, it strengthens our body rhythm. In Ayurveda (the science of natural life) it is said that one of the ways disease can take root in the body is during the change of the seasons.
When the body is out of rhythm it usually affects our stomach, liver, spleen, intestines, gall bladder, or we get heartburn or IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), which can cause either diarrhea or constipation.
In bringing the body back into balance it is best if we eat foods that satisfy the body's cravings, which will also help you to cut out snacking between meals. These tastes are sweet, pungent (may help stimulant appetite and maintain metabolism examples are garlic, ginger, kale, mustard, peppers and tomatoes), salty (can help to cleanse bodily tissues and activate digestion examples are seaweed, cucumbers and zucchini), sour (may help with the elimination of waste from the body examples are fruits, yogurts, soy sauce, and pickles), bitter (may help detoxify the blood, control skin problems, as well as tone the organs examples are aloe vera, arugula, radicchio, dandelion greens, and turmeric), and astringent (may help reduces bodily secretions and constrict bodily tissue examples are dried legumes and bark teas).
There is no better time than the spring and summer to get into the melodic and harmonic beat that indicates the wellbeing of the rhythm of your physical body.
